Being a Friend and a Voice
to at-risk young people & urban sub-cultures

Wounded, anti-mainstream, post-moderns, artists, homeless youth, urban poor, rainbow kids, and music scenesters. Our goal is to be a Missional Community - To impact this hurting and skeptical culture through urban outreach, the Fallout Arts Initiative (Fallout Urban Art Center & Art Co-op), incarnational living, community homes, transitional housing and Urban Ministry Trainings.

Our holistic approach of being a FRIEND (serving physical, emotional and spiritual needs) and a VOICE (communicating God's love and forgiveness) allows us to reach those who are coming out of devastating and troubling histories, skeptical of Christians and would not come into a church for help or answers.

Source, founded in 1987, is a faith based non-profit organization that reaches out to young people who are alienated and disenfranchised: Empowering at-risk and alienated young people to build foundations for healthy futures.

O U T R E A C H
We Make Contact and Gain Trust by having 1) outreach teams in the clubs, coffeehouse, and streets 2) hosting welcoming and appealing events and 3) facilitating initiatives that benefit the less fortunate while encouraging diversity, creativity and community. Music shows, a urban summer art festival, community meals, interactive events, community studio space, artists in residence, a gallery, and outreach staff offices are all a part of making the Fallout a hub for outreach. Individual relationships, discussion groups, Bible studies, and Alternative Worship allow more opportunities to voice hope and truth.

Fallout Arts Initiative (FAI)
is the arts branch of Source. Its purpose is to nurture creativity, diversity, & community for young & emerging artists, And To benefit the less fortunate through creative programs, environments and service initiatives.
- The Fallout Urban Art Center: Gallery, Kitchen for Community Meals, Performance Warehouse Space, Skateramp, Showers/Laundry, and outreach offices
- FAI Art Coop: 12,000 sq ft building including 23 dance/theatre, visual arts, music, sculpture, and design studios
- Creative Services: Initiatives that serve the homeless, low-income and urban youth. The heart of the CS's, including the Fallout Art Fest and the Homeless youth benefit, is to encourage artists and creative types to use their natural gifts while supporting, bringing awareness, benefiting, and serving those in need.

Staying in relationships to mentor and disciple is a priority. Role models and advocates are needed to build into relationships of a generation where so many are scarred by broken homes. Spiritual Discipleship, advocating, life skill training, and goal setting are all apart of mentoring at Source.

Drugs, prostitution, negative relationships, unemployment, and education issues have been part of what we have seen young people need to overcome. Source sees no greater need than for healthy environments in which to grow. Many young people also have a huge hunger for a healthy family and community that they never were a part of. Since 1995, Source has provided a variety of community housing opportunities that have allowed individuals a place to grow in their faith and become more stable: Making a break from the past and setting a foundation for the future. Over 200 residents, interns, and staff have been a part of community houses since June of 1995. Other creative housing solutions throughout the years have included young adults moving in with staff or volunteer families, sponsoring a temporary apartment, and a women's community.

T R A I N I N G
Over 1,200 have participated in Urban Ministry Training (UMT), internships, outreach trips, Spring break outreaches, Art Intensive weeks, and weekend trainings. Raising up and equipping leaders to reach out is the best way to multiply Source's effectiveness. We value relationships with our culture, those in need, each other, and authentic growing relationships with Jesus Christ. We desire to be a Missional Community that is relevant in culture and invites the wounded and skeptical to come partake.
