10 week summer internship
5/21 – 7/28
(includes all three intensives: In KC for 24/7
National Gathering (5/21-5/25), and then in Mpls
from 5/26-7/28)
|
You are welcome to participate in one or
all the intensives individually, or participate in the
whole 10 week Transit Fuel (that includes all three plus
being part of the Source BR’s summer community). See below
for more details on each of these.
Transit
Fuel & Intensives
To provide entry points to build relationship
with 24/7-prayer, experience Boiler Room communities,
see and participate urban outreach, learn the foundations
for effectiveness and longevity, and hear the many layers
of our story.
Thank you for your interest in the 24/7
Transit Fuel and intensives. We’re excited to offer three
different 4-8 day intensive gatherings/trainings this
summer along with the 10 week Transit Fuel (internship)
that will include all of them. We hope to have several
individuals and leaders from several different Boiler
Rooms be part of hosting and teaching at all three intensives.
Weather you can join us for just one of the intensives
or the full 10 weeks, it is a great opportunity to experience,
build relationships, get to know individuals in the 24/7
national community, and learn foundational values.
Each of the intensives will have different
focuses. Individuals are welcome to come for 1, 2 or all
3 of them. Along with all three intensives, the 10 week
Transit Fuel will give a more in depth experience, relationship
building, and teaching of values and being part of a Boiler
Room Community. It will begin with the 24/7 National Gathering
near KC, and then the rest of the Transit Fuel (along
with the UMT and the Drum & Easel Art Intensive) will
be hosting at the Source Boiler Room in Minneapolis.

3 intensives (24/7 National Gathering, UMT, Drum&Easel
Art Intensive)
– 2 tracts: 1) Urban Outreach / Prayer - 2) the Arts
TF will be an intense 10 weeks in which
you will get to know and meet individuals from 24/7 around
the country and around the world. Each of the three intensives
consist of a heighten schedule with pilgrims coming to
join from around the country. Between the intensive weeks,
you will be joining the Source Boiler Room Community rhythm,
living in a community house near the Fallout, participating
in a daily rhythm of prayer and outreach, and sit in on
weekly gathering times that will feature more in depth
teaching from a variety of leaders and urban neighbors
that have given their lives to reach out and live amongst
urban diversity.
TF participants will also be given the option
of choosing a focus of interest. The 2 focus offered will
be 1) Urban Outreach / Prayer & 2) Arts. The summer will
be guided by personal and small group mentorship, experience
along side staff/community members, and the individual's
spiritual growth. Being a part of a Boiler Room, getting
to know the individuals and families, outreach team, coffeeshop
and street outreach, hosting outreach events, worship
and prayer, teaching & training, building projects, ministry
journals, and discipleship groups are all a part of TF.
TF participants will also help host the Fallout Art fest
at the end of the summer and there may be an option to
attend the Cornerstone Music Festival in July.

24/7
National Gathering:
Youth Front Campground in Kansas, near Kansas City Area,
5/22-25
www.24-7prayer.us
"Gather" link
Since it’s birth in 1999, 24/7 Prayer has seen steady
growth and the amount of inquiries and interest continues
to pour in. Weeks of 24 hours prayer hosted by Churches,
small groups of friends, urban communities, college students,
Campus America, and Boiler Rooms along with Pete Grieg’s
Red Moon Rising (Chronicling the beginning years of the
movement), and now PunkMonk hot off the presses has generated
quite a stir.
We are gathering at a camp
near Kansas City from May 22nd-25th, to put fuel on the
fire of prayer, to be the community of faith and to take
our campuses for the glory of Jesus. We recognize that
there are many questions and a lot of interest in 24-7
Prayer as well as 24-7 Communities (Boiler Rooms) and
Campus America. We are hosting one intense gathering with
three separate tracks that follow the three veins of 24-7
Prayer here in the U.S. Please bring your friends and
family and let's see what the Lord will do.
UMT
(Urban Ministry Training):
Source Boiler Room, Minneapolis 5/31-6/8
This is an attempt to try to give away all we can to the
participants that come to attend. UMT will feature 24/7-prayer
and Boiler Room leaders from across the nation. Boiler
Rooms have the same DNA, but have unique expressions as
each community, neighborhood, and city they are located
in is unique. This is a great opportunity to connect and
learn from many different leaders while experiencing a
Boiler Room for a week. There will be a wide spectrum
of experience from different leaders, and credible urban
ministries (shelters, urban missions, inner-city churches,
halfway houses, etc.). Creative teaching times, small
group processing, prayer/worship, afternoon electives,
evening outreaches, and meals to connect are all included.
Speakers
Jon Peterson
Jon Petersen, raised by
missionary parents in Tokyo, Japan, has been dedicated
to reaching cities most of his adult life. After graduating
from Biola University in 1974, he began church planting
amongst the counter-culture youth in the 1970's, Jon,
his wife Mindy and three children moved into the Red-Light
district of Amsterdam in 1981, serving with Youth With
a Mission for thirteen years. After extensive evangelism,
church planting and prayer ministry into Eastern and Western
European cities, the Petersen's were led back to the United
States in 1994. Since then he and his wife continue to
serve the church and nations by pastoring, teaching, equipping,
etc. They now live in Colorado and oversee 24/7 Boiler
Room communities. Jon continues to teach and consult leaders
and movements across the United States, Europe and Asia.
Joe Steinke
Joe Steinke, lives in Cottage
Grove, WI (near Madison) with his beautiful wife Angie.
He is the much loved father of two married daughters and
three sons that still live at home. Joe is currently the
director of the Greenhouse Community in Madison. This
Greenhouse consists of a Learning Community which offers
young adults weekly class opportunities to renew their
minds with rich, intense, truth filled curriculum and
connects them to rhythms of shared meals, prayer and fun
with in the community. The Greenhouse also hosts expressions
of simple church, interest groups, weeks of 24-7 prayer,
shared meals and a group of friends called "Greenhouse
Gardeners" who were recently commissioned to launch an
official Boiler Room church plant in Madison.
While Joe is at the center of this local young adult buzz,
he recently pioneered a new church plant on the East side
of Madison. He is deeply connected to the 24-7 prayer
movement and is a part of the 24-7 Advisory Team which
connects him to a variety of communities all over the
United States as well as the world. He is also the founder
and director of Platform Productions which is a performing
arts team that travels to China during the summer time
and shares a hope filled message to the Chinese people
in the universal language of art.
Joe has been friends, and peers with Peter Wohler for
many years. The Minneapolis, Source Community and The
Greenhouse Community have road tripped many times to learn
from each other as well as encourage each other with lots
of laughter and fun! Joe is delighted to be a fatherly
voice into the Source community and longs for the connection
between Madison and Minneapolis to grow even stronger
in the years to come.

Drum&Easel
Art Intensive:
Source Boiler Room, Minneapolis 7/12-7/20
The Drum&Easel Art Intensive Week will be week that we
will focus on how communities can use creativity to impact
culture and how individual artist can become the full
expression of how God made them. Join us for a week of
creating, presenting, learning, and serving in the context
of relationship, families (children can come!), collaboration
and worship. The Week will include: sharing, intensive
teaching, worship times, creative workshops, and an interactive
Art party at local shelter. You will see and experience
the Fallout Urban Art Center and FAI Coop first hand.
During the week there will also be opportunity to participate
on individual and group art projects as we will be prepping
for the Fallout Art Fest at the end of the week.
The Fallout Arts Initiative
(FAI) is part of Source. It’s purposes are to 1) resource
and equip emerging artist and 2) facilitate creative services
that will benefit the poor. The FAI was conceived out
a heart to combine creativity, justice, mission, and hospitality.
It also allows Source to build relationships and community
with the art culture (which is typically highly skeptical
of any Christian initiative). Minneapolis has the world’s
most theatres per capita and if a very liberal and artistic
city. The Fallout Urban Art Center (Gallery, warehouse
performance space, prayer room) and the FAI Coop Building
(23 different visual and performing studios) is located
across the street from the Art Institute/MCAD/Children’s
Theatre.
Fallout Art Fest: what’s
a great way to serve a poor diverse urban artistic neighborhood?
Host an incredible interactive neighborhood artistic block
party. Each year we block off the streets in front of
the Fallout UAC and the FAI Coop to make room for 2,000
attendees, 100 artist and performers, 5 stages, artist
booths, interactive art stations, indy film fest, community
murals, kids activities, free food, and one incredible
lala-palooza worship circle dancing drum jam.
Guest Artists
Tracy Howe
Tracy Howe, visionary and
lead artist of the group, was born in Boulder, CO and
now live in a small mountain town called Woodland Park,
CO. She loves backpacking and Colorado winters. She was
classically trained on the piano and started composing
music and writing stories by the age of 12. Her favorite
authors are Thomas Merton, Tolkein, Lewis, Nouwen, and
Madeleine L’Engle. She listens to all sorts of music and
seeks out interesting indie artists. She has a Great Dane.
She taught herself Portuguese. She likes espresso. After
graduating from Colorado College in 2000, having studied
comparative religion and music composition, she spent
a year traveling with a missions org through the Southwest
United States, Peru and Bolivia. She led worship in churches,
schools, prisons, and stayed in over 250 host homes, from
San Diego, CA, to indegenous Quechua villages in the Andes
Mountains. Since then her dreams of seeing people, communities
and nations restored and reconciled to a loving Creator
and Father have only grown. She believes that relationship
is the primary catalyst for restoration and justice.

24/7-Prayer
& Boiler Rooms:
24-7prayer started by accident
in September 1999, with a bunch of young people in England
who got the crazy idea of trying to pray non-stop for
a month. God turned up and they couldn't stop til Christmas!
From there the prayer meeting has spread into many nations,
denominations and age-groups. Hundreds of non-stop prayer
meetings now link up here on the web to form a unique
chain of prayer www.24-7prayer.com.
24-7 has become a worldwide,
non-stop prayer movement. With 3 dimensions to the movement:
1) A network of Prayer Rooms determined to pray like it
all depends on us and live like it all depends on God
until the tide turns in our generation
2) A Missions movement quickly arose out of the Prayer
Rooms as we received requests to take teams to 'high places'
in youth culture.
3) Boiler Rooms – Christ focused, missional prayer communities.
Taking the 24/7 values and living them out in wholistic
communities.
Source Boiler Room: Source
has been to be a friend and a voice to the marginalized
and urban sub-cultures since 1995. Source is located in
one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country with
over 100 languages spoken within 1.5 miles, across the
street from the Art Institute/MCAD/Children’s Theatre,
and living amongst the homeless and poverty with 2 shelters
within 4 blocks. Wounded, anti-mainstream, post-moderns,
artists, homeless youth, urban poor, rainbow kids, drug
dealers, prostitutes, Muslim internationals, and music
semesters are not just our people group, but they are
literally our neighbors.
After nurturing relationships
for several years with 24/7 and recognizing similar values
and DNA, Source has become a Boiler Room. We’re excited
to have a national and international family to be able
to give and receive from.
Our goal is to be a Wholistic
Cross-Generational Missional Community that is not just
in proximately, but is establishing significant relationships
and being a light to individuals. We primarily desire
to be available to build relationships that allow us to
love individuals. Our wholistic approach of being a FRIEND
(serving physical, emotional and spiritual needs) and
a VOICE (communicating God's love and forgiveness) allows
us to reach those who are coming out of devastating and
troubling histories, skeptical of Christians and would
not come into a church for help or answers.
The Fallout Urban Art Center
is somewhat our community hub: it includes – a gallery,
performance warehouse, prayer room, showers for homeless
youth, kitchen, and a skateramp in the back. We have also
combined our energies around initiatives that allow us
to better serve needs and are also tools to build relationships
- urban outreach, the Fallout Arts Initiative (Fallout
Urban Art Center & Art Co-op), annual Art Fest / block
party, incarnational living, community homes, transitional
housing and Gatherings/Trainings. ??
