Source Prayer Requests

24/7 means constant; all the time, every moment. As humans we don't have the energy or focus to do anything 24/7 by our own strength. But God does. He is committed to you 24/7. He never stops loving you or caring for you; He is never for one second unaware of your needs. We honor His commitment to us, and eagerly engage in the chance to know Him more, by committing ourselves to 24/7 prayer.

Welcome to the Prayer Room! Please enjoy allowing the Lord to be with you. Feel free to use the stations as starting guides for your prayers, songs, dances, or quiet meditations. There is an iMac computer next to the sound board that has iTunes on it. Please feel free to select some worship music and play it while you pray. You are invited to light a candle as you enter the prayer room and extinguish it when you leave to mark your time with the Lord. Also, please pray for the person who comes to relieve you after your shift and partake of communion together. (Ideas: that God would speak specifically to them, that their time would be sweet fellowship with Him, their personal requests). Keep the river flowing!

Please respect the purpose of the space and those who are praying by speaking quietly or taking non-prayer conversations to the gallery area. If you choose to sleep here overnight, please sleep in the gallery or the basement. Thanks.

“Pray as you can, not as you cannot” Red Moon Rising

As you enter into the prayer room, we encourage you to begin with a heart of simply seeking God’s presence. Try to begin by putting away any agenda’s or stresses you might have came here with. Participating in acts of giving God praise, confession, and thanksgiving can assist us in connecting with God and actually being in His presence. Once we are connected with God it helps us have his heart as we pray for ourselves, our love ones and the world around us. Do not feel you must use the stations to do this, but only if they will assist you.

The Stations are here to encourage prayer as well as have a corporate journal of the week to allow participants to build on the prayers of others that have come before them.

Themes

Homeless Youth
In the past Source has had a major emphasis on outreach to homeless youth. While still carrying this heart the involvement with homeless youth has decreased in the last few years. This year we hope to pick up this emphasis again and know that we cannot do this apart from prayer. We will be praying for friends, new relationships, open doors and wisdom.

Human Trafficking
This is a major issue that is often thought of happening only in other countries. Recent stats show otherwise; "It is estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 people, primarily women and children, are trafficked to the U.S. annually." This happens right here in our city and we feel God telling the church to wake up and help fight this atrocity. Join us in asking God for wisdom, insight and direction as well as interceding for trafficked people.

Play and Pray
We had the privilege of hearing Neal Taylor from Jesus People USA (JPUSA) teach the first weekend of September on 'ContemPLAYtion.' He shared some thoughts and experiences as well as asking for input into this relationship of play and prayer. Jesus says that unless we become like little children we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. This week of prayer we want the Father to teach us to play and pray.

Loving God, Loving each other and loving the world

The three main focuses of Boiler Room communities is being true to Christ, kind to others and bringing the Gospel to the nations. There are many ways that these can be expressed. The stations for this week of 24/7 prayer are here to help us devote ourselves to these three practices.

Journaling. (will be updated throughout the week of prayer. Last update 9/27 at 4:20pm).

Prayer Journal September 20-27, 2008.

Kick-off of the week.

During worship the Lord emphasized surrendering things to him. We took sometime to pray and then to speak out loud the things we were surrendering to God. Surrender comes from the understanding that God is our CREATOR and we are his creation. Humility and trust in the goodness of God are needed to surrender to him.

"Breathe in me new life, breathe in me your breath." A new song during worship. This lead into a time of prayer for marriages that are falling apart. We had a powerful time of intercession and worship over marriages and families.

Another theme that came up was homeless youth and the marginalized. We asked God to reveal his love for them and set them free from the lies of this world. We asked for protection from drugs, the sex industry, etc.

Nightwatch Sunday.

I am reading through the gospel of john. The relationship of jesus and the father is emphasized in john and I have been meditating on it. Jesus says that if you believe in him you also believe in the one who sent him. It seems that many may accept or appreciate Jesus but do not know the father. Jesus said to his disciples that when they see him they see the father as well.

A big part of my prayer time was focused on human trafficking. The reality of this international 'business' is very overwhelming. There is an anger that stirs up in me when I read about men who treat women and girls as if they were merely a piece of flesh for their enjoyment. As I bring this before the Lord in prayer I am learning to pray for these men to be set free. They enslave girls because they are also enslaved. Jesus said that anyone who sins is a slave to sin. These men are deceived. These men need truth to set them free. One of the main ways that the sex industry thrives is through the internet. One of my prayers tonight is that these web sites would crash, go out of business and no longer be used. Girls can be auctioned off online. Men can read up on the best spots for cheap sex before traveling and even get directions all online. My prayer is that these websites would crash, be put out of business and no longer hit by thousands every day.

Sunday morning/Merge.

A Vietnamese lady named Tuyet stopped by this morning. She collects aluminum cans to recycle and was walking by this morning. We gave her some coffee and a muffin but could not really communicate with her. From what we gathered she has three sons. Jesus bless Tuyet and lead her to your truth. Surround her with your love and goodness.

During our time we talked about the person of Jesus being the foundation of all that we do as the church. we discussed different claims that Jesus made about himself and the prophesies he fulfilled. We then broke into a few groups to pray about marriages, the lost and homeless youth. A really sweet time of worship together and some great drum jams.

Sun night watch-

In conversation the idea of God breaking our hearts with the things that break His heart came up. What a dangerous prayer to pray, "God break my heart with what makes your heart break." We talked about times where God has opened our eyes to what's on His heart and how at times it has just brought us to tears. Our prayer is that as God opens our eyes to what moves his heart that we will be filled with his strength and compassion.

We also prayed about those stuck in negative cycles, those that are trapped in situations. That they would find rescue and strength in Jesus and that God would use us to help those who feel like there's no way out of their situation.

Monday morning -

When I walked into the prayer room this morning at 6am, I felt the sweet presence of Jesus. It was a very different feeling from what I felt outside. It was obvious to me that this is a resting place and a place to meet with Jesus. I'm usually Not a morning person, but this was worth waking up for. Our savior is longing for us to come away and be with Him. I spent some time reading from the Psalms. God was showing me some things about how He fashions each of our hearts individually. (Ps 33:15)

11am.

It is very peaceful and quiet in here. My thoughts and prayers are for families this morning. I want to know God's plan and purpose for the family unit. My prayers are for those parents who are in tough situations with kids, teens in particular, who are using drugs, stealing, violent, etc.. Father, would you give them wisdom and grace in this season of trials. Pour forth your grace and mercy over families that are struggling and full of dysfunction. I ask for your love to abound over them. Give hope and encouragement to those who want to give up right now.

John 13: Jesus, the Son of God, takes off his outer clothes and washes the feet of his disciples. The Word who was in the beginning and through whom all things were made takes on flesh. Not only this, but he takes the position of a lowly servant. It is too much for Peter to handle. He tells Jesus he will never wash his feet. Jesus insists that he must or Peter will have no part with him. When he is finished, Jesus asks, 'Do you understand what I have done?' I have to say my honest response is, 'No.' I don't understand that Christ has come to the earth as a man to be a servant. I don't understand that the Son of God would wash the feet of his disciples. But I do understand that this is what he commands us to do as well. Jesus, help all of us, especially those in leadership, to be more like you. Help us to wash the feet of each other in humility. Take away our sense of entitlement, our longing to be recognized.

7pm I guess we're round the 48-hour mark already… well highlights for me so far have been praying with people… VIGIL: (the Saturday night kick-off)

9pm Monday night
I came tonight out of obedience. I needed to be here to hear God. I have been struggling with a hearing impairment in my left ear since the end of July. In asking God "Why can't I hear?" He showed me how I haven't been listening to Him. I needed to repent. To receive His grace and to sit in the quiet...hearing only Him.

I see God doing a new thing in His Bride, the Church. And I can also see all of the efforts of the Enemy to thwart His obedient servants. The Enemy seeks to confuse and bog down, to distract and to wear thin those who are seeking God and listening for His leading. Pray that the Father will protect His Bride, while at the same time building her up, strengthening Her with His power and sending her forth to serve the least and the lost.

10pm.
LIGHT. As I came here tonight I thought of Jesus' claims to be light and that those who believe in him should not stay in darkness. He warned people to work while there was light and to put their trust in the light while they had it. He knew darkness was coming. He declares a verdict in John 3: Light has come into the world and men have hated the light. They hate the light because it exposes their deeds as evil. God promised one who would come and be the light of the world in Isaiah 9:2 and Isaiah 49:6. Jesus claims to be the light of the world in John 8. He is the one God has promised and sent. Tonight I pray for Jesus, the light of the world, to be revealed. I pray that God reveals his son to those who walk in darkness. May people put their trust in Jesus and no longer walk in darkness. Expose the evil deeds of darkness tonight. Bring conviction of all those involved in evil tonight.

Tues 1am
Tonight I am going to start with a concentration on the theme of marriages and families and see where it goes from there…
2:45 There's a lot of pain out there. So often couples bring their individual pain into a marriage and it can get really messy, I pray for healing. Healing for the individuals and also then for the union. Love is more than enjoying something; my prayer is for those entering into marriage who have never had an example of what two people who truly love each other looks like.

Tuesday 1 p.m.
Today we felt a barrier to reaching those that we are meant to connect with - as we move toward funding and cooperation for the work at Source. We stood against this barrier.

As I came into the prayer room this afternoon I knew God was here. I felt the need to be like a child and just be with the Father. It was great to simply draw, dance and be free. The struggle I have is knowing the conditions that millions of children live in each day. As I learn more and more about the abuse of children around the nations I wonder how I can have fun? One of the most devastating things about human trafficking, homeless youth, etc. is that is robs children of their innocence. But Jesus is our Redeemer. He came to redeem, restore and make all things new. This is the hope we have in Christ.

Psalm 10 reveals the essence of people involved with human trafficking as well as the essence of God's sovereignty.

WED 3AM
I spent the majority of my time in worship…God is so good! I love Him so much, I am so glad I am His.
Wed 330 AM As I was reading Ephesians 4 and it describing our behavior. As members of the body of Christ. I prayed and worshiped our King. I am encouraged to put off the falsehood that has consumed me before; I love my Lord so deeply. Knowing He has His best for each of us. This puts a smile and unspeakable joy.

Men's Prayer.
Before prayer we had a great conversation about 'underground' worship and worship that is raw. We also talked about how God is raising up worship leaders with different styles and new songs. Isaiah 30:32 was discussed in reference to the connection of worship and spiritual warfare.
We did the Celtic morning prayer together. In the time of prayer in the liturgy we prayed for God to wake up his Church, to deliver her from judgment and fear into love. We prayed for artists, musicians, dancers, drama and theater to be raised up that would proclaim God's love to this world.

Wednesday 1 PM
As I prayed, I sensed a strong presence of the delight of the Lord! I kept praying that He would make His face shine upon the people and the causes that we are praying for. And that He would be gracious and He would declare and reveal His presence and that He would bring peace. Beauty and Presence were the words that I kept getting. "Save Us O God", Kevin Prosch

Wednesday 4 PM
Thank you all for your examples of prayer and love. I see so much evidence of God working in each of you. All the praise to our Lord forever!

7pm-9pm.

We gathered together with some brothers and sisters from Steiger. We had a great time of prayer in small groups and then all together. There were many things emphasized in prayer. Some of the main themes were homeless youth, rainbow/traveling youth, the sex industry in Minneapolis, child prostitutes, prodigals and the bride of Christ. One thing we asked God to raise up was a church that is willingly to go after these people and really be fathers and mothers to them. We asked God to bring more homes and families who would invite youth off the streets to live with them and disciple them.

Some of the people from Steiger will be traveling in buses and RVs to minister to travelers and homeless youth. We prayed for God to provide for their needs, to lead them in truth, to encourage them and unify them. It was a really sweet time of fellowship and we pray it happens more often.

Thursday nightwatch. 12:30am

We started out with some prayers around the area of human trafficking. Whew! God was certainly present. We had a really powerful time of prayer. Psalm 10 was again a basis for our prayers around this area. We prayed for the victims and the oppressors. We prayed for a breaking of this ungodly practice and the restoring of God's righteousness on the earth. We declared that Jesus alone is the hope to healing these women and children after all they have been through.

We also asked God to transfer the money that is being used to buy and sell people to the people who are working for the kingdom of God to come to this earth. We asked that the money would no longer be used for evil but for good. We also asked God to reveal the relationship of 24-7 prayer and stopping human trafficking. God is raising up communities of 24-7 prayer all across the world where human trafficking is happening.

1 AM

I played and prayed until I got my ball stuck in the rafters of warehouse one. It was fun. I like the concept of doing things we enjoy as part of prayer.

Thursday 6pm.

Meditation on Psalm 25. Asked God to show us his ways, to teach us his paths and lead us in truth. The love and mercy of God is from of old and endures forever. By his grace he remembers us according to his love and not according to our sins.

I played Chucky Cheese basketball with Papa for a while. I even got one semi slam-dunk in! God is our Father and wants us to just be with him.

10pm

Some of us went to prayer walk around a mosque tonight. It turned out to be quite the experience as some security people asked us to leave. There have been some people assaulted this week and they are fearful of it happening again. We came back to the Fallout and had a great time of prayer for Muslims. We asked for God to reveal his son and bring conviction.

Friday night watch.

Some good fellowship and prayer this morning. We prayed about many things including asking God for a women's transitional house. The need is there and we are building a leadership team. We asked God to lead us in truth and provide a place in the neighborhood in his timing.

We prayed for the church in the twin cities to be unified and to be awakened. We asked God to let the church be childlike and for people to know that God likes them. Too often people think God simply puts up with them and gets angry when they mess up. This is not who Jesus revealed the Father to be.

We prayed again for God to transfer money from being spent on wickedness to be spent on things of the kingdom. We asked God to convict people who are going to spend money on prostitutes, drugs, etc. to fill convicted and give to ministries instead.

Friday 5 - 6 pm

I prayed for the homeless, the names listed and others. I prayed for those that do have homes, the Joshua House residents, the Art Co-op, Source Staff, Board members and Merge. I prayed that God would be glorified, bondages broken and that lives be transformed.

7-9pm

We had a prayer time for Muslims as tonight is the night of power. We prayed for Muslims who are followers of Isa (Jesus). They remain Muslims culturally but believe Jesus is the Messiah. We asked that God would strengthen them, encourage them and give them opportunities to share God's love. We prayed for laborers in Muslim countries to be safe and protected. We praised God for the great work he is doing in these nations.

Revelation 5, Isaiah 55 and Isaiah 49:6 all came up in prayer. We asked God to give Muslims visions of Jesus, the Lamb who was slain. We thanked God that he loves the nations and longs for all people to know him.

We read an email from a friend in China about some amazing conversations with his Muslim friends. We prayed for our friend to be encouraged, to grow in intimacy with God and to be led by the Spirit. We also prayed for his brother and sister in law who are in Palestine.

Father, in your mercy reveal your son to Muslims across the nations. May they know they need your mercy and that you have given mercy in Jesus. May they know that the only way to be righteous is through a relationship with Jesus.

Saturday 8 AM What a blessing this all has been for me and seeing our Lord answer so many prayers. How faithful He is to His children. Ask and you shall receive!

2pm

Some prayers were said for friends of ours who are struggling. We asked God for strength, protection and encouragement. We had a time of prayer for travelers and punks. We asked God to bring a revelation of his love as a Father for them. We asked that he would show them that he likes them and is for them. Again we asked God to rise up some that could be fathers and mothers to other travelers. There are so many that are hurting, lost, scared and need good parents. Wouldn't it be great to see some believers who are solid in their faith and identity in Christ take these young people on as their children? Let it be so Father.

Also asked God to bless every one who has been in this building this last week. We asked God to bless them and show them his ways. For those who are believers to be strengthened. For those who are not-that their hearts would be softened.

Stations:

Poustinia: A Russian word meaning “desert.” A small space to sneak away and be alone with the Lord. In Luke 5:16 it records that as the crowds increased Jesus often withdrew to lonely, desolate, deserted places to pray. Imitate Christ by withdrawing to this deserted place.

Communion: The body and blood of Christ are available for you to partake. Take some time to meditate on the greatest sign of love.

Play and Pray: Explore the concept of ‘contemPLAYtion.’ Ask God to show you how to be childlike again. Spend the first 15 minutes of your prayer time by doing something playful that you enjoy. Reflect on how God smiles on you while you do this.

Homeless Youth: Some stats and stories about homeless youth, names of homeless youth and a homeless youth documentary are available. As you read and listen ask the Lord to direct you in prayer for these young people. Pick a few names and pray for God to be near, to meet their needs and to reveal his love.

Human Trafficking: Horrible atrocities are happening daily in most countries where people, mostly women and children are sold. Read through some of the stats and stories, ask God to break your heart and lead you in prayer as well as action. Lift up the people involved in this. Pray for the organizations and ministries trying to stop the traffic.

Family/Marriage: One of the main arenas for discipleship and growth in Christ is in our families and marriages. Consequently, this is one of the places that the enemy works the hardest to bring division. We have some doors set up that spell out ‘Family.’ Take some time to pray for your family, marriage as well as other families and marriages. Ask God to move graciously in the midst of daily family existence.

Art Station: Feel free to use the paint supplies to paint whatever prayers are on your heart.
